With two consecutive quarters of negative growth, the UK economy slipped into a technical recession at the end of 2023.
This can be daunting news for any small business owner. So, what can we do to weather any future storm?
Well here’s 4 things to consider:
1. More Marketing
If ever there was a time to zero in on expanding your audience and growing your list, it’s now. Prepare those stellar lead magnets and get them out there so you can start building relationships from now, instead of having to try pushy sales tactics later.
2. Clearer focus
Really analyse the products/services that are performing the best and focus your time and energy on promoting them and making them better. Don’t waste time, money and effort on weaker offerings.
3. Nurture existing relationships
We all know it costs more to acquire a new customer than it does to maintain an existing one. Love on the people who have already spent their hard-earned cash with you. Show them they are valued and don’t take them for granted.
4. Automate & Delegate
Of course we were going to get this in here. But if you really think about it, freeing up your time to focus on revenue generating activities is both practical and logical. If you find you are doing repetitive tasks for little return, there’s probably a way to automate it…otherwise hand it over to someone else.
Business is challenging at the best of times… Add a recession into the mix and it may feel even harder (unless you operate a recession proof business). But as the saying goes ‘failure to plan, is planning to fail’.
So, what do you reckon? Is there anything from the above list that you’re doing, or going to do?
